I posted just a few days ago about the danger that cyclists face from aggressive motorists.  Only a few days later, I read this article in the Denver Post, about people intentionally spreading tacks along known race routes before the race. 

Again, cyclists are targets on the road.  I think the evidence that people intentionally try to deflate tires in competitive road races underscores the average driver’s attitude towards cyclists.  While there is an obvious gulf between an inattentive driver who hits a cyclist and these idiots, the theme seems to be that cyclists are an annoyance on te road.
